M-O-T-I-V-A-T-I-O-N | Fitness Friday

Seeing as today I was running all around New York City, this blogpost is a bit late but it's my birthday so I am going to let it slide. I took to Twitter to ask what you wanted to read about this Friday and coming up first was "How To Stay Motivated."

It is officially the day that people give up on their resolutions. They put in a solid week and by the 8th, gym memberships just seem like a figment of the imagination. TBH, if I wasn't paying like so much a month for the gym, I can see how that happens.

Well I am here to give you tips and tricks on keeping your mojo when it comes to kicking your booty into shape.

1. Remember that you paid for it. Whether it is your gym or the veggies in your fridge. That is money you spent so you might as well use it.

2. Have a Goal Event. This event doesn't have to be big. It could be simply, wanting to feel better about yourself by the first day of summer. Mine is gotta be bikini ready for Brazil. In February.

3. Start Small. Don't go in thinking, "Right gotta lose 15 pounds in 2 weeks." Because you won't (and if you do, you probably aren't doing it the safe way). The moment you notice you won't be hitting your 15 pound goal in 2 weeks, you'll probably ditch the idea all together. Personally, I aim to lose 1/2 pound to a pound a week. Not insane and it lets me have little successes that keep me going.

4. Join a Class. This could be a yoga class in person or even just subscribing to a certain YouTuber and doing their newest video at a certain time. Check in. Having other people know you are there helps you not want to a miss a day. I take about 6 classes throughout the week. If I miss one, the next time I'm in class everyone asks where I was. Suddenly I feel really bad that I am missing a class with my "friends."

5. Get to Know the Instructor. This goes hand in hand with #4. Get to know that YouTuber or the head person in your class. Know their name, what they do for a living. The more you know about them and feel comfortable with them, the more likely you are to 1) show up and 2) push your body to limits. I've met a number of my instructors' family and even friended them on Facebook. You'll never really succeed in a class if you don't feel like you are being helped.

6. Have a Good Gym Playlist. Working out without music is like going on a picnic with no food. Possible but not nearly as fun. Download an app and listen to something. Anything. I listen to podcasts, radio and 8tracks. You'll want to actually start the workout if you have something to look forward to.

These are just a few things that I think can help you really get into the workout mood. Once you really start to workout and enjoy it. You'll see why I go twice a day. There is an energy after working out that is amazing and I look forward to it everyday.

I believe in you. If you want to get in shape this year. It's totally possible. Keep these few tips in mind and get that booty you've always dreamed of!

See you Monday!

Parsons School of Design Assignment: My Audience

This very special Tuesday blogpost is because I am currently completely a certification in Fashion Essentials! Yes, I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree but I am back for more. Anyway, this post is about my audience. While I follow the analytics for all my social media accounts, I really focus on my YouTube Channel. Obvi.

So here is my audience! First off, I thought it was crazy that I have the largest male viewership in Germany, wassuuup German dudes! The age range was super cool to see. I knew I had a strong teen to 20 year old audience but I didn't realize that almost just as many teens watch me as 25-34 year olds. I weirdly have a pretty large range but it is so awesome! These 10 countries are the top 10 when it comes to viewership. Also Australian 65+ seem to love me. Just thought this was a cool assignment that everyone would like to see.

Thanks Parsons for making me take a good hard look at my audience.

See you tomorrow!

Friendly Reminder: NYE 2016

HAPPY ALMOST NEW YEAR! 2016. Whoa man. 2016. Everyone always makes these amazing goals for the year. I'm not trashing that idea at all. Kinda cool that there is a date that can be a refresh button for all of humanity.

Personally, I think anyone can start a new life any time in their life. One day I decided to change my diet and I did it. You don't need a date but if you want a date. This is the time to start.

If the New Year gets you down, like it does a lot of people. Here are some things that for sure going to make this year pretty cool for you.

1) Your birthday
2) Halloween
3) SUMMER
4) The Sun will Shine
5) Someone will show they care for you
6) Your favorite artist will have a song on the radio
7) You'll eat a delicious meal
8) Puppies will be born
9) YouTube videos will be posted
10) A bed will always be there for you

Don't let this New Year, New Me thing get to you. You are amazing as is. As wonderful as this time is, remember you don't HAVE to change but it is a cool time to make some goals.

Until Friday!

XOXO

Thank You, One Direction

Dear One Direction,

Thank you. Thank you for an awesome five years. Thank you for creating an environment and fandom that felt like a safe zone. Thank you for the fun. Thank you.

Whether this break is 18 months or 5 years, we are here and always will be. A fandom isn't just created for a certain period but a lifetime.

Thank you for the memories. Thank you for the insanely ridiculous tweets that I couldn't understand half the time. Thank you for being there when others weren't.

You know what is weird, in the past five years, there hasn't been a day where I haven't seen any of your faces. Even weirder, I am actually worried about you during this break. Get plenty of sleep and drink water. Sing loudly in the shower. Eat your favorite food. As much as this is a change for us, it is an even bigger change for you.

Thank you for the tours. Thank you for the albums. Thank you for the photoshoots and especially thank you finally getting a snapchat.

A break means a break. A break from all contractual related things. So go write songs for other people, heck even sing with them. Use this time to really get to know and use your talents. As fans, we know this is your break as much as it is ours. Enjoy it.

Thank you for five amazing years that have forever changed my life. Our lives. See you when it feels right, One Direction.

XOXO

Stripes and Polaroids

Recently, I have inquired a lot of stripes. Not sure when this happened or why but I'm not mad about it. As always high waisted jeans are a staple in my wardrobe as well as Doc Martens so I paired the three together for this "French girl takes on London for the weekend" look.

So blooming sunny during this shoot.

Jeans are from ASOS (obvi) and they are my ride or die jeans. I have two pairs in black and one pair in denim. They are beyond comfy and the rips in the knees make them just cool enough. TBH I've worn them to job interviews and no one has realized they have rips in the knees. Deffo consider them a good buy!

Black Jeans are the only things I wear anymore.

Mock necks have taken over my closet. Like when did I become a turtleneck and mock neck girl? Probably when I realized how nicely they cover triple chins and pimples. Well this shirt (although not exact but close) is stripy and mocky so what more do you need.

It was chilly so I paired it with a wool sweater and a wishbone necklace from Garage.

Doc Martens are probably my one staple item when it comes to the fall and winter time. I don't even have snow boots just Docs and thick socks. Their initial price tag is a heart attack and a half but they have gotten me through two festivals, three winters and a lifetime of wear and tear. If you are on the fence about them. Just buy them.

God, even Urban Outfitters hates how hipster I am.

These outfit posts are some of my favorites and I hope you are enjoying them as well. Clothes are a fun way of expressing yourself so like I say about makeup, don't take it too seriously.

Until next time!

XOXO

Glitter Brows: Tutorial

Glitter is basically my new obsession. Anything shiny. I am like a puppy who gets distracted by a slight glimpse of light. If you haven't already seen my video on how to do a decorated face, click here (or watch below).

See anything that shines must be on my face somehow. This week I decided to do a trend I have seen all over the runways.

Sadly, this look is mainly done with silver and gold. Not many decided to go wild and do a color. Since dying my hair blue, I have been drawn to do more looks with blue, so blue brows it was.

How To Do Glitter Brows:
Step 1: Find a shadow of the glitter you want to put on your brows. Apply that.
Step 2: Use an eyelash glue (or if your shadow is sticky that will do) and using a brush, place the glitter on the brows.
Step 3: Using a brow brush, comb through.
Step 4: Look sick as heck.

While this look may not be for everyone it is certainly fun and I couldn't stop smiling while wearing them.

It is the little things people that make the world just a tad less miserable. Now, personally I decided to rock a blue lip with the look but that is not by any means necessary. And if the colored brow isn't your thang, just stick with the gold or silver. Both are amazing colors for this wintertime.

So glitter isn't even the slightest of things you want to deal with because lets be real, I am still finding it all over my house; check out my tutorial on "Browscara" which is just colored brows (that stay).

Make up is meant to be fun and if looking cray is holding you back, realize this, everyone is more worried about themselves than you. Own your look and have a bit of fun.

Just a heads up, this get does a bit messy so make sure you do it over a sink or a towel for easy clean up!

Until next time!

XOXO

Turtlenecks and Exposed Knees

I've started wearing pants to bed so that tells you something when it comes to the weather. This week's outfit is brought to you by beanies, platforms and DIY jeans.

For the people who don't understand crop sweaters, I understand but high waisted pants. Okay just to get that in the clear.
Always scrolling on Insty

When jeans start looking old and need a new face, I cut them to pieces. This time around, huge squares over my knees. I can't link you to them because they are from Delias* from like 23190324 years ago.
"Look like you like these flowers." -Colton

It was so sunny during this photoshoot haha but here is my lovely H&M cropped white turtleneck (this ain't the real one I'm wearing but its type cute) which I wear with both black and jean high waisted pants. This real cute hat is from Garage.
Let's pretend I'm real good at this whole style blog thing.

Basically this outfit is perfect for that pretend autumn weather we all claim to have, the hat and ripped knees balance out your outfit when it comes to warmth.  So grab your beanie and cover your unwashed hair (cuz that's what I am doing)!

Until next time!

Nail Varnish of the Week

My 6 year old self freaked out when she saw this color. This was the exact color of my old platform Sketchers. P sure that is where my love of platforms began, in like Kindergarten.

Jeans and Sparkly Blueeeeee!

It is so snazzy, I can't get over it. Look at this very unprofessional blue but who cares cuz I love the way it hits the light.

OPI's "You Blue It" is the color of the week.

Basically, grab this color and go. This took only 3 coats and it dried super fast so #bless.

Stay Fab (and glittery)!

Nail Varnish of the Week

Spring has sprung! Kind of. I was feeling the warm weather and my tan (LOL) so I went to my automatic "summer" color, white.

Whitttteeeee! Ohhh I feel so Hampton's. Do I look tanner already? I wish.

Thank God, Wet n Wild is $0.99 because hello. Yes, this is the second feature of the company. Thanks of making cheap nail varnish.

It is Wet n Wild's "French White Creme" and it went on pretty smooth but it did gain bubbles after some wear and it does change color fast, especially if you dye your hair (like me).

What is up with that pinky? Anyway, overall pretty happy but it does chip quite quick.

Stay classy.

Senior Year Spring Break

Spring Break. The time every college student heads to warmer weather and beaches to get wasted every day and night. Sounds like the dream. But for some of us who, 1) shoutout to Pitt for having different spring breaks than all other schools, 2) can't afford it, 3) just don't want to do that, Spring Break means heading home and hanging with the rents. I did that my freshman and sophomore years of college. My junior year, I stayed in my single room and hung out around campus by myself (watch the video here). But this year, my senior year, I knew I had to do something different.

I headed to Disney.

Yup, I spent my senior Spring Break in Orlando, FL; far away from beaches, clubs and crazy EDM concerts but not far from fun and memories I will always remember. Shout out to Amanda for being my partner in crime as we took on Disney and Universal.

I'm not saying the typical Spring Break is bad because its not, my friends went to Cancun and Miami and looked like they had an amazing time but my speed is much more family friendly vacations and hot tubs.

The reason for this blogpost was to just say to do your own thing. Spring Break is meant for relaxation and fun before really working hard for the next few months on schoolwork. Don't feel that you need to have the stereotypical "Spring Break," or do, no one is stopping you.

If you haven't seen what I got up to during my break, here are my weekly vlogs about both (Week 1 // Week 2) And if you want a play by play of what we did, head over to Amanda's blog!

Nail Varnish of the Week

Since starting up this weekly blog idea, I have been getting so many varnishes as gifts. It is so lovely considering I am not a fan of buying things for myself, unless that thing is food. This color was given to me for my birthday by Fredrika since she knows I either like obnoxious colors or really neutral colors.

Bam! I decided to welcome Spring with a bit of nakedness. LOL.

Against my skin tone, it really is just a bit lighter/warmer so it is perfect!

This bomb color is Wet n Wild's Yo Soy. It went on somewhat smooth, a bit thick but that meant less layers so I'm down for it.

When you trying to feel fab but in a nude way, this color is for you!

Stay naked!

Nail Varnish of the Week: Spring Break Edition

As you may have noticed from my instagram, you will  have seen I was on Spring Break. It was much needed and seriously so much fun! Anyway, I am pretty sure I have worn this color before but whatever, it is a beautiful color!

Doesn't it just scream realizing by the pool and tanning???

This is legit my one of two essie colors. I always feel like their colors are so beautiful but there are plenty of other varnishes that go on a bit better. Somehow I always get bubbles, whatever, still fab.

As stated before it is Essie in "Rock The Boat," the perfect blue with a hint of shimmer.

The boys also really love it, so I don't see why you wouldn't want to rock this color everyday?

Holiday nails are the best nails!

Nail Varnish of the Week

This week I went for a bit of a toned down look (that I think I have done before??) since I just had neon yellow nails for the past two weeks. Grey + Light pink = V calm.

it really only took 3 coats of each color to look like this but because I am a weirdo, I did about 5.

The colors are Brucci Nail Hardener in "Alexandra's Hot Gray" and Wet n Wild's "Sugar Coat."  I have found these colors to hold a really strong and beautiful pigment, which is amazing.

Overall, super happy with the subtle nail look I went for.

Chipping was rare but because my nails are a bit weaker right now, a little chipping did occur about 2 days in.

Stay sassy.

XOXO -M.S.
