Nail Varnish of the Week (Frozen Edition)

Seeing as it is the holiday season, I decided to get in the spirit with some holiday type nails. I didn't feel like the classic red and green so I went for a more wintery look using blue and silver sparkles.

My ring finger was actually painted grey to keep the background a bit different and in the silver family.

Sometimes I spurge a bit and buy some Essie colors while there is a sale because lets be real. The colors are amazing and seem to hold up to their cost.

The grey color I used on my ring fingers was just a basic grey I picked up by Brucci.

The Essie color I used was "Rock The Boat" and the Brucci's Nail Hardener color used was "Alexandra's Hot Gray" and it is certainly hot.

The silver sparkle used mainly on my ring finger and scattered on my other digits was a simple Forever 21 color in "Glitterati."

Overall, I was quite happy with my nails and they lasted about the standard 5 days. The sparkles make any nail color chip faster. If you are looking for the perfect Frozen inspired nails, these are it!

Stay Fab!

Actual Warm Winter Fashion

Before you read this post! Watch my "Polar Vortex Fashion" video!

Ok perfect, thanks for watching it. Now for some actual winter fashion advice!

Shoes:
Snow boots! Or at least something with grips will help you from slipping and falling during these winter months.  As warm as Uggs are, they aren't meant for the snow (unless you have the heavy duty snow shoe ones). Personally, I rock a pair of white snow shoes from Payless.

Pants:
I am a huge fan of wearing tights or leggings UNDER your jeans. It adds another layer of warmth and if you wear tights with feet, it adds another pair of socks without the bulk!

Leggings:
There is a such thing as fleece lined leggings and if you live in a cold enough place, I highly suggest rocking a pair of these bad boys.  Places from H&M to Sports Authority sells them for the fashionista to the athlete who likes to workout in the snow.  I live and die by my pair of fleece lined leggings! Fashionable but warm.

Sweaters:
Wool is sometimes way too itchy even though it is one of the warmest fabrics.  Instead opt for an Under Armor like shirt that is meant to keep your body warmth in.  I am a huge fan of wearing a tank top under a plaid cotton shirt to stay warm before piling on another large sweater and a jacket.

Jackets:
As cute as a peacoat is, its not always the warmest coat around. Instead, go for a ski jacket or parka that is longer than your waist so when you go sledding (or just slip and fall on the sidewalk like me) your bum will be covered and the wind won't be able to freeze out your back!

Gloves:
I refuse to wear any other gloves than my tech savvy gloves that allow me to tweet and take pictures while I play in the snow.  They aren't always the warmest but in today's technology and image driven world, these are a life saver!

Hats:
Any hat that works for you is what you should rock but I am personally a fan of beanies and head wraps.  I just got a super cute headband from Nasty Gal and my ears have never felt warmer!

However you dress, be smart. Its better to be warm than stylish.  Most of the time people aren't judging your outfit but instead running to the next warmest spot on their journey to their destination. Stay warm out there!

XOXO -M.S.
