My New Year's Hair and Makeup

I may have stayed in for New Year's but that doesn't mean I couldn't do my hair and makeup! Here is my step by step guide on how I did my look!

Makeup:
Step 1- I started with my normal face makeup!

Step 2- Then began with my eyes using a black pen liner and a slip flip line.

Step 3- From the middle inner of your eyelid out to the wing, draw a thin to thicker line.

Step 4- Do this to both eyes!
Step 5- ADD THE GOLD GLITTER!
Step 6- Mascara Mascara Mascara Mascara

Hair:
Step 1- Take the front portion of your hair, tease and create a poof and secure with hair pins!
Step 2- Curl your hair for added drama.
Step 3- Tease your hair some more and feel free to curl whatever amount you want to.
Step 4- HAIRSPRAY! (You are probably going out dancing!)
Step 5- Have an awesome night! (Curly version on left, straight version on right)

Have a safe and happy New Year!! XOXO -M. S.

Spray Hair Color

If you follow me on ANY of my social medias, you would know I am obsessed with colored hair! My hair is personally a mix of blue, purple and pink. The more color, the better in my book.
My hair has been through well...a lot. It was bleached for two days straight then sat with toner for forever and then finally dyed purple. As I have been experimenting with my hair, I have added in the pink and blue.

Before I put my hair through everything, I tried colored clip-ins from ULTA. They were great for the young people who wanted to try a little something different (and are under their parents' roof).

The next attempt of being cool was hair chalk! I bought some $4 pink hair chalk from Rite Aid. I loved it but didn't like how it would wash out right away. I eventually used it again when my hair was bleached and it held much longer!

But the moment I heard about this SPRAY Hair Color, I got so excited! Since it is spray, it is more condensed and it can take the darkest pigmented hair and turn it to pink (pink only holds in blonde or bleached hair). The product is made by Bumble and bumble. It is called Spray Chalk and it comes in 4 different colors as of now (cobalt, lavender, mint and blush)! The prices are $19 for a 1.4oz.

It washes out within a day but it allows you to experiment with different colors and ideas (ombre, stripes, start at the roots), it is whatever you want to make it! I have yet to try the product but needless to say, it shall be in my hands soon!

So go grab some and spray away....at least for a day!

Home is where the WiFi connects automatically

As I begin my Junior Year at the University of Pittsburgh, I have come to realize that home is the one place you can come, be yourself and be accepted. Family may not always agree with your decisions but they will eventually come around to them. Take care of your family and love them. They are all you've got in the end.

Home is where you are always welcome.

XOXO,
M.S.

July's Favorites

I always told myself that I would NEVER do a monthly favorite but as you can see, I am doing it. So since this blog is all about fashion, music and culture. Those will be my main three topics each month. Let's get started.

Music:

BBC Radio 1 and Radio 1 Extra are where I find most of music, along with people who tweet/follow me to check out their music. To say I don't love Top 40 would be a total lie, but I like to say I like Top 40 songs before they are Top 40s....like a hipster of popular songs except I want people to hear them.
My July songs have been filled with random throwbacks and dance-y music.

These are just a few of my July favorite songs, as I hear songs I like, I will be sure to share them with you.

Fashion:

Grunge, grunge, grunge. If you aren’t wearing something with mesh or spikes, I question you. 90’s clothing is back and in major ways.

   Denim!
Denim has always been a closet staple but it is back and in more ways than one. Dresses, headbands, overalls, skirts, shorts, tops, jackets, bags, pillow cases, backpacks. You name it and it can be denim.

   Platform shoes!
To say I don’t have at least 4 pairs of platform shoes in my closet would be a total lie. Platforms=height without the discomfort of heels. Sneakers, sandals, dress shoes, boots, platform shoes are back and in every style.

   Colored Hair!
Maybe I am biased because my hair looks like a unicorn but rainbow hair is taking over. Whether it is bleached or just applied with hair chalk, it is everywhere! Thanks to the founders of BLEACH London, bleaching and hair coloring is no longer a backyard beauty job but a professional and acceptable way to play with your look. If you haven’t checked out BLEACH yet, be sure to look at their blog and lookbooks.

   Bold Tees!
Cropped tees, shirts with sayings and obnoxious prints are the way to rule this summer. Personally, I love my “IT GIRL” tee. Comfy but says a statement that must be shared in the rudest way possible.

   Slept In Hair!
Lazy summers= not a hairbrush in sight. As wonderful as the polished look may seem, it is ok to give your hair a break from the heat. Let it air dry and leave the hair straightener to the side until the fall!

My fashion comes from the music I listen to to the blogs I watch on a daily basis. Here are some other blogs I like to keep an eye on.
  -TopShop
  -BLEACH

Culture:

I am the biggest tech head so to say that I haven’t fallen in love with The DigitalFairy would be a total lie. Technology news in the funkiest of ways.

Nylon Mag, haven’t heard of it? What a shame. It is only one of the leading magazines to hit the stand that is changing culture. Be sure to read their brilliant blog.

Beach culture. I live a block away from the beach so to say that the surfer’s attitude is in my blood may be more true than saying Prince Harry has red hair. “Take life day by day and handle each set of waves as they roll in.” Don’t worry about the waves that are on the horizon but the ones right in front of you.

Whoa, well this was my first favorite post and I am super excited about it. I am sure as we go through each month I will get better with each post but not bad for a first shot. Feel free to comment below some things you did and did not enjoy about the post!

XOXO,
M.S.

My First (Grown Up) Post

Whoa!
Well, I decided to be a grown up and have a grown up blog. Sure I have had my Tumblr for 6 years and I will continue to update that but this, this is a big step. I'm scared to say the least but excited! My main goal for this blog is to....share fashion, culture and music with you that I enjoy. It may not be your cup of tea but I swear I have good taste in some things....some. So, let's do this. Fashion. Culture. Music. Love. Thanks for joining me on this journey.

Xoxo,
-M.S.

P.S. I plan on writing like we are friends, I feel more comfortable that way; hope it is cool with you.
