Welcome to Fitness Fridays | Metabolic Supercharge Smoothie

I have been on the fence trying to decide if I wanted to update my blog on another day but I have decided yes! While you may see my snaps or videos of me while I'm at the gym, I hardly talk about how important health is to me. So I saw this as the perfect opportunity to talk about all things healthy.

Like everyone, weight has always played a major role in my life. While I have remained the same weight since I was 17, I never felt healthy. The summer after graduation I decided to do something about that. My family did actually. Our family has always been active but we decided to change our lifestyle.

If you want to follow my fitness tumblr, I highly suggest. nomoreexcuses110.tumblr.com I am always updating it and find it important to create a community to really push yourself when it comes to getting in shape. The tumblr community is amazing but the Blogilates community is perfect for the people who need a friendly push (aka me). Both can be major support systems if you let them.

During this first Fitness Friday post, I wanted to show you how to make my new favorite smoothie. The recipe is from Blogilates so all credit to her!

Metabolic Supercharge Smoothie

Ingredients:
1 Banana
1 1/2 cups of Kale
1/2 cup of Non-Fat Yogurt
Handful of Ice
1/2 cup of Almond Milk (or Milk)
Juice from One Lemon (Or Lemon Juice)
1/4 Teaspoon of Cayenne Pepper

Step 1: Put one whole banana in your blender cup

Step 2: Add 1 1/2 cups of Kale

Step 3: Throw in your yogurt

Step 4: ICE ICE BABYYYYY

Step 5: Milk, I do feel like Almond Milk would be better but all I had milk

Step 6: Just a pinch of pepper (this is the kickstarter for your Metabolic system)

Step 7: Turn it on and spin away

Step 8: Wait for all the chunks of ice and banana to become smooth

Step 9: Pour into a cup and enjoy!

Like I said this is my absolute favorite smoothie as of now and I can't stop making it! It has 232 calories and 16 grams of protein. I stay full from the morning to dinner time because of this supercharged smoothie. When it comes to the pepper, start with less and work your way up to the 1/4 teaspoon.

Add a cute straw and embrace the kale!

Until Monday!

XOXO

  1. Hi Mavis! I wanna share my story, when I was 16 years old I started to get a lot of wait, like a lot because of my bad habits. Since then I have tried to go to the gym and try to eat healthy but I cant 😢 I work and go to collage. Sometimes I dont even eat breakfast. I always have dinner at 10:30pm or 11:00 pm because at 10pm my clases end. So I always get depressed because of that, I hate my body. Dont know what to do 😐

    1. Hi Karen!!! I know exactly what you are going through. Throughout college it was so so hard to get on a schedule. On Mondays I would have class at like 8am and not get out until 10pm. I started to carry my gym clothes with me. I made it a priority to get to the gym. I would always bring some sort of homework whether that was something to read or flashcards so I could kill two birds with one stone. When it came to eating on campus, being healthy was hard. Especially with the school cafeteria we had. But you have to make the best with what you are given. I started to go to the sandwich bar but just get sliced turkey, no bread. And I would start to eat from the gluten free area because I realized their veggies and fruit were fresher. When I was back in my dorm room, of course I snacked. But I snacked a lot until I realized just how much I had gained and how unhappy I was. Frozen grapes became my go to as well as rice cakes. Everything is good as long as it is in moderation. I know everyone says that but its true. I hardly ate breakfast too since I tried to get every last bit of sleep I could but grab a banana on the way out or even a quest protein bar (they fill you up) and just make sure you don't wait until lunch to eat because you will more likely grab the chocolate bar (believe I know). I'm proud of you for sharing your story and can't wait to see your journey! Best of luck with your work and school!
